I photograph events across London — birthdays, brand launches, corporate evenings and private parties. I work discreetly, shoot in available light rather than firing flash in people's faces all night, and you get the edited gallery back within about a week.
The aim is that people forget I'm there. I move around the room, shoot in available light wherever it's usable, and use flash sparingly — nobody wants a strobe in their face while they're mid-conversation. What comes back is a record of what the night actually felt like rather than fifty identical posed line-ups.
Before the event I'll ask for a rough running order and a short list of must-haves: speeches, the cake, the host with specific guests, any sponsor branding that needs to appear. Everything else I shoot as it happens.
Private parties and milestone birthdays, brand launches and press evenings, corporate dinners and award nights, and club or venue nights. The approach is the same across all of them, but the balance changes — a launch needs product and branding covered properly, a birthday needs the people who matter to the person whose birthday it is.
For corporate work I can also shoot a short set of clean headshots on the side during the event, which is a cheap way to update a whole team's profiles in one evening.
Coverage is booked by the hour with a minimum, and most events land between two and five hours. I'd rather arrive early and catch the room while it's still empty and lit properly than turn up once it's packed.
You'll normally get a handful of preview images the next day — useful if you want to post something while the event is still current — and the full edited gallery within five to seven days.
I cover events anywhere in Greater London. In practice that means a lot of time in the City and Canary Wharf for corporate evenings, Mayfair and Soho for launches and press nights, and east and south London — Shoreditch, Hackney, Peckham, Brixton — for private parties and venue nights.
Every venue has its own problem to solve. Basement bars and railway arches are low, dark and need careful handling. Hotel function rooms are usually lit for comfort rather than for cameras. Rooftops and marquees change completely once the sun goes down. Knowing that in advance is why I ask where you're holding it before quoting, rather than after.
If you can tell me the venue name I'll usually know the space or can look at it beforehand. Outside Greater London I travel regularly, and the travel is written into the quote so the total you're given is the total you pay.
The main drivers are how many hours of coverage you need, travel to the venue, how many edited images you want back, and whether a business needs the images for advertising. I quote per event rather than working from fixed packages. Call with your date, venue and rough timings for a straight answer.
For weekend dates and anything in December, as early as you can — those go first. Midweek events can often be arranged at shorter notice. It costs nothing to call and check whether a date is free.
No. I shoot in available light wherever the venue allows it, which keeps the atmosphere of the room intact and keeps me unobtrusive. Flash comes out when the light genuinely isn't there, and it's used carefully.
A small preview set usually the next day so you have something to post, then the full edited gallery within five to seven days.
Yes. I'm London-based and cover all of Greater London as standard, and I travel beyond the M25 regularly. Travel is included in the quote up front.
Yes, commercial usage is available — just tell me at the point of booking that the images are for business use so it's covered in the quote and there's no confusion later.
