I'm TJ — a London portrait photographer shooting headshots, personal-branding sets and creative portraits across Greater London. Sessions run about one to two hours, you'll see the gallery within a week, and you don't need to know how to pose. That part is my job.
We start with a quick conversation before the shoot — what the photos are for, where they'll be used, and what you don't like about photos of yourself. That last question is the useful one. Most people arrive convinced they're not photogenic, and almost always what they mean is that nobody has ever directed them properly.
On the day I direct continuously. You'll never be left standing there wondering what to do with your hands. We work through a handful of setups, changing angle, light and framing as we go, and I'll show you the back of the camera early so you can see it working. Sessions typically run one to two hours depending on how many looks you want.
Most portrait work happens on location around London — parks, streets, rooftops, your own space if it suits the mood. Natural light does most of the work, and I'll pick the time of day around it rather than fighting it.
If you need a clean, controlled background for headshots or company profiles, I bring lighting and can create a studio look on location, which saves the cost of hiring a studio for a short session.
You get a full gallery of edited images, colour-graded and retouched to a natural standard — skin still looks like skin. Delivery is normally within five to seven days, and I can turn a small selection around faster if you have a deadline.
Images come in both high-resolution files for print and web-sized versions cropped for LinkedIn, Instagram and website use, so you're not resizing anything yourself.
Location is half the photograph, so it's worth picking properly rather than defaulting to whatever is nearest. For portraits I work across all of Greater London and choose based on the look you're after: the South Bank and the river for open light and clean modern backgrounds, Hampstead Heath, Greenwich Park and Richmond for green space and distance, and east London around Shoreditch and Hackney for texture, brick and colour.
For headshots and anything corporate, I'd usually suggest something neutral and close to you — your own office, a quiet courtyard, or a controlled setup with my lighting so the background stays clean and consistent across a whole team.
There's no borough I won't travel to. Central, north, south, east and west London are all standard, and I regularly shoot beyond the M25 — travel for those is included in the quote up front rather than added as an extra afterwards.
It depends on session length, how many edited images you need, travel, and whether the photos are for personal or commercial use. I quote per job rather than using fixed packages, so you're not paying for things you don't need. Call or message with roughly what you're after and I'll give you a straight number.
Bring two or three options in solid colours or subtle textures — busy patterns and logos date quickly and pull attention off your face. Make sure everything fits properly and is pressed. If the photos are for work, bring one outfit slightly smarter than your normal day-to-day.
Yes, and this is the most common thing I hear. Being uncomfortable in front of a camera is normal, not a defect. I direct throughout, we start with easy setups to warm up, and most people relax within the first ten minutes once they see a frame they like.
Normally five to seven days for the full edited gallery. If you need a couple of images sooner for a deadline, tell me at the time of booking and I'll prioritise a small selection.
Yes. I cover all of Greater London and regularly travel across the M25. For locations further out, travel is factored into the quote rather than charged as a surprise afterwards.
